On Remembrance Sunday 2022 at 10am, the town of Rothwell paid their respects to the war-dead and the procession started its journey to the Holy Trinity Church on Squires Hill.
At 10.15am the Remembrance Service at the Church began.
11am: After the two-minute silence, this was followed by the wreath ceremony at the War Memorial.
Wreaths were laid by representatives of the Town’s organisations and included Lord of the Manor, Mrs Zandra Powell; Rowell Fair Society’s Chair and Bailiff to the Lord of the Manor, Frank York together with President of the Rowell Fair Society, Paul Johnson.
Afterwards, Councillor, Karl Sumpter as Mayor, held a small reception at the Market House.
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,
We will remember them.
“For the Fallen” written by Poet, Laurence Binyon.
